Despite the number of problems that could be solved this way, there is one key problem that would get worse- Cost. North American pickup trucks are nothing if not cheap, and this is partly due to their body-on-frame construction, something that wouldn't survive the switch to a more human-friendly design. It would also take years in regulatory limbo to get a new design approved, and adopted by the loyal buying community.
